PACE – Recreational Therapist 


 

In this opportunity, you’ll have to develop, implement, and oversee recreational therapy services for program participants under the administrative direction and supervision of Management the role plans.

 How to make an impact:

 

  • Evaluates and implements creative, individualized, and therapeutic activities for participants care plans.
  • Conduct an initial assessment and scheduled reassessment of all participants.
  • Trains staff on new recreational therapy activities and programs.
  • Plans and offers varied monthly programs and uses group and individual oriented interventions to maximize participants’ cognitive and functional abilities.
  • Offers therapeutic activities daily for participants with special needs.
  • Documents participant involvement in activities and revises care plans as needed.
  • Actively participates in team discussions offering feedback, ideas, and suggestions both on a day-to-day basis and in staff meetings.
  • Serve as a resource to staff and coordinate volunteer activities at the center.

Performs other job duties as assigned

Job Requirements

What you’ll bring to the table:

  • BA degree in therapeutic recreation or related field required
  • 1-3 years of professional work experience
  • At least one year experience working with the frail elderly is required.
  • CPR Certification
  • Valid Driver’s License and automobile insurance
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position, including being able to lift (with lift devices or assistance) residents in excess of 100 pounds.
  • Developed written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective multi-tasking and problem solving skills.
